The best thing is that it’s free admission. We do recommend getting there early as there tends to be a long lines to enter. Plan to be here at least an hour to really explore all the rooms filled with culture and artifacts.

Take a Stroll in Hyde Park

Enjoy the serenity of Hyde Park, one of London’s largest and most famous parks. Take a leisurely stroll, rent a rowboat on the Serpentine, or relax in the picturesque surroundings. Also, since you are so close, consider extending your walk by simply crossing over Piccadilly to Green Park, which takes you straight to Buckingham Palace.

Admire Buckingham Palace

Another staple of London, Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the British monarch. Make sure to witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony, which typically takes place at 11am, but we recommend that you get there at least an hour before to get a good spot to see this ritual. Because it is a daily ritual, it is free to the public to view.

Take a Free Walking Tour

Free Walking Tours are the perfect way to explore any city with an expert at no cost. Make sure to plan ahead and reserve your spot. We recommend Free Tours by Foot and taking the “Royal Westminster” tour. It’s just over 2 hours long and you get to see sites like The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and more.

Wander through Covent Garden

Explore the lively atmosphere of Covent Garden. Indulge in shopping, dine in trendy restaurants, and enjoy street performances in this historic market area. We loved the street shopping and were able to get some budget friendly souvenirs. Also while you are there, make sure to check out Bullards Spirits to taste some of the best gin in London. 

Walk Across Tower Bridge

Take in panoramic views of the River Thames and the city by walking across the iconic Tower Bridge. Only about 5-10 minutes to across on foot, this has to be on your list of things to do in London. For an extra thrill and fee, visit the Glass Walkway and Engine Rooms.

Ride the London Eye

Experience breathtaking views of London from the top of the London Eye. This iconic observation wheel offers a unique perspective of the city’s skyline. We didn’t get to ride during our visit, but we will the next time we go.

Day Trip to Stonehenge

Consider taking a ½ day trip to Stonehenge. Located on the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, Stonehenge is a globally renowned ancient monument dating back to around 3100 BCE. Comprising large standing stones, arranged in circular and horseshoe formations, Stonehenge’s construction remains a mystery and brings in visitors from all around. About 2 hours from London, consider taking a roundtrip with Evans Evans Tours to see this site.

Explore Soho

Soho, a vibrant and eclectic district in the heart of London’s West End, pulsates with a dynamic energy that makes it a cultural epicenter. First you can indulge in retail therapy on Oxford Street, one of the world’s most famous shopping destinations. Then explore Chinatown, full of East Asian culture and great food. Or consider people watching at Soho Square Garden.

Shopping at Harrods

Harrods, situated in the prestigious neighborhood of Knightsbridge, London, is a world-renowned luxury department store with levels and levels of shopping. From high-end designer boutiques to the famed Food Halls showcasing an array of international delicacies, Harrods is a must visit. Believe me, you will not leave without buying something, so plan your budget accordingly.
