The Ultimate Restaurant Guide for Greensboro, NC

Historically known to be one of the major transportation hubs of the southeast, Greensboro aka “Gate City” is a great stop if you are driving through the state. The 3rd largest city in the state, Greensboro is full of history, culture, and knowledge. As true foodies, we can say that Greensboro is also home of some great food. From family outings to date nights, here is the ultimate restaurant guide for Greensboro, NC.

CharBar

With 6 locations, mostly in NC, CharBar is the perfect place to be casual, but still enjoy an upscale experience. This All-American spot has a friendly staff, great food, and amazing cocktails. If it is a beautiful day out, make sure to sit outside on the patio. Our favorite order starts with fried pickles, with the main course of their grilled salmon or their famous chicken wings, and then top off the meal with one of their delicious cocktails. Village Tavern

Another All-American spot, Village Tavern is a NC treasure. The first restaurant was started just 30 minutes down the road in Winston-Salem, NC and is known as a restaurant with quality food at an affordable rate. This is our go-to place to take out of town family and friends to experience some true southern hospitality. Shari’s favorite meal is the Bayou Shrimp, usually substituting the rice for mashed potatoes. We love to see what ciders are on their ever changing draft menu and we finish off our meal with their made-to-order warm butter cake topped with fresh berries. 42 Fry

Shari loves seafood and nothing makes her smile like a fresh piece of fish right out of the hot grease. 42 fry is more of a take out place with undeniable delicious seafood for an affordable price. It is right across the street from UNC-Greensboro and just minutes from downtown. Our favorite special is the Monday/Thursday special of the Mini Whiting Meal (2 pieces of fish, one side, and a drink) for only $7.50. Check them out at http://www.42-fry.com/menu/

Arigatos

The residents of Greensboro love Japanese food and on any given weekend, Arigatos is always packed with at least a wait of an hour or more. Like most hibachi spots, it starts with soup and salad, with the best appetizer shrimp. The appetizer shrimp has become so popular that you can order it as a meal with rice and veggies. Oh, and you cannot forget to ask for more white sauce with your meal. Check them out at https://www.arigatos.net/

Green Valley Grill

Green Valley Grill is perfectly located inside the O. Henry Hotel across from the Friendly Center. This upscale restaurant is perfect for date night. The moment you walk in, you instantly know that it is going to be a great experience from the smells from the kitchen and the cheerfulness of the staff. Even though their menu changes with each season, you can never go wrong with their wood-fire grilled salmon. Check them out at https://www.greenvalleygrill.com/

Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen

This Greensboro award winning restaurant is a Greensboro landmark. This NC staple is known from its southern style cooking, from Fried Green Tomatoes to Pot Liquor & Corn Bread. Also, we love that they source locally, partnering with local farms and vendors around NC. We love the Cornmeal Crusted Carolina Catfish with collard greens and whipped sweet potatoes. Crafted The Art of Taco

Greensboro-bred, Crafted is a popular taco spot located just downtown. On any given night, this place can be packed with people loving this local gem. With a wide of tacos, there is something for everyone in your party. Our favorite is the Big Truck, stuffed with pulled pork and mac’n cheese. Make sure to get there early because the last time we check, it’s first come, first served. Check them out at www.eatatcrafted.com/

Hops Burger Bar

Named TripAdvisor’s best burger in the nation, Hops Burger Bar is known for having the most flavorful burgers. Started in Greensboro from two local friends, Hops is always “hopping” with patrons anytime of day. Make sure to get here early because it’s normal to see the line out the door. With your choice of 6,8, or 12 oz burgers, style of fries, and a pick from one of their draft beers, it makes for a great experience. We love to start with an appetizer of the best onion rings, with a pickle back burger cooked medium, with a side of sweet potato fries. Check item out at http:// hopsburgerbar.com/.

Stephanie’s Restaurant

Visited by President Obama, Stephanie’s is one of the most beloved soul food restaurants in all of Greensboro. All of my friends from the Triad raved about this place and we have not been disappointed. They have everything you would want in a soul food spot – fried chicken, fried fish, mac & cheese, collard greens, candied yams, and more. Our favorite are their chicken wings with some candied yams.
